Hello, My nickname is JSG and I'm the webmaster of Deaf Resource Center (deafbiz.com) This website has been in existence for nearly 10 years, going through a lot of transformation until settling down with Joomla! as Content Management System (CMS).

I originally started as a list of Deaf Owned Businesses on the Internet until I was getting requests for links removal because so many Deaf MLMe's were using my list to recruit them!

Then I decided to broaded to deaf-related websites because at that time, no one else was doing a good job of it. Deaf World Web was the closest link directory and then the domain was hijacked and I feel sorry for the webmaster who was not able to get it back. It probably costs her thousands of dollars in monthly income because she could make a good fortune with ads like Google's Adsense.

I discovered Zeus (by cyber-robotics) which made it easier for me to find and classify links. However, once I wanted to expand to add articles, blogs, then it was obvious that Zeus outlived it's purposes. Hence Joomla!.

I've also tried to patronized deaf owned business starting with ISP and web hosting. I tend to switch web hosting every 6 months, usually because the website would be offline for hours or that email server stopped working. To make the long story short, I've settled down with Host Gator and I highly recommend them! They do offer live support but I find their email support F-A-S-T!!! Also, they offer a feature called Fantastico, which makes it easier to install Joomla, Wordpress, and PHPList with a press of a button. Did I mention that Joomla, WordPress, and PHPList are free??? It's well worth the monthly service charges because it's truly a bigger bang for the bucks.
