Noisy Christmas toys can damage hearing

Traditions! Oh, how we love them! Christmas parties, Christmas cookies, Christmas tree catching fire that burned down a house, etc. Same usual stuff that happens every year.

Here’s a new tradition: Annual warnings that Christmas toys are too loud.

As if Ipods weren’t dangerous enough.

Deafbiz weblog’s new look

I hope you enjoy the new facelift of Deafbiz weblog. I ran into problems getting it to pass XHTML and CSS validation and figured it was just much easier to use a new theme than to debug the old theme.

Besides, I was getting tired of the plain layout.

Also notice that there’s another avenue of revenue to help support this weblog, and yes, it doesn’t violate Google’s TOS.

Enjoy!

Get the scoop on credit cards

From time to time I use Quicken to evaluate my financial picture. If you don’t know where you stand on debt, assets, and credit report scores, you’re simply paying too much money, period.

And that means research, research, research. Get the best deals on credit card. Exercise your rights to a free annual credit report (or free credit report in case you get turned down for credit). Learn how you can save money or make your money work harder for you. Basic stuff like that for life skills (which should’ve been taught in k-12 in the first place).

I have to warn you, there’s lots of spamming and scammy websites that will give you the wrong information so it is CRUCIAL that you get your information from credible websites and blogs.

For Credit cards, I go to cardratings.com There’s a big forum and credit card reviews and if you’re pressed for time, it has an RSS feed as well as an email newsletter. You’ll find lots of great tips on credit card as well as advice for real world credit problems.

From time to time, I get unsolicited credit card offers in the mail. I go to cardratings.com to check out what others have to say about a particular offer or the bank. That way I know if I’m getting a great deal or a sucker deal.

Don’t get ripped off. There’s ton of free, accurate, unbiased information’s out there. Take advantage of it.

T-Mobile Email Spam Cleaner

I had several friends with Sidekicks that had to notify everyone on their mailing list of their new @tmail.com address due to spam.

A Sidekick owner got fed up with this spam problem and did something about it - he wrote a simple free program:

T-Mobile Email Spam Cleaner

This simple Windows utility pulls mail from your My T-Mobile webmail
account, filters it based on blacklist and whitelist rules, then
forwards the good stuff along to your Sidekick. The program never
deletes anything, but merely moves spam to the Trash folder where you
can review it for false positives.

Hamodia Magazine: “Hearing: Their Silent World”

Hamodia Magazine is the only Jewish Orthodox daily newspaper covering a wide range of topics of interest to the Jewish Community. Hamodia does NOT have an Internet Edition.

Hamodia recently printed an article about the Orthodox Jewish Deaf  Community. Jewish Deaf Community Center was gracious to host a scanned copy in .pdf on their website.
