Another round of emails about my “arrest” and this time was modified. Why am I being slandered AGAIN? Who wants to harm my reputation? And why NOW??

If you get this email, please “copy and paste” the entire email (including header) in the Contact Us form so I can get network security specialists to do a trace and seek legal action against the rumormonger. Thank you.

Rochester Woman Arrested in Alleged Charity Scam
David Boris
Staff writer

(April 3, 2006) - Deaf woman is arrested for operating a charity scam and accused of ripping off thousands of people over the Internet.
Police say Judy Slomovic Gunter, the owner of www.deafbiz.com, gathered thousands of dollars in her donation scam. She allegedly convinced more than three hundred people to donate money. The victims apparently believed they were giving money to the Anti-Gun Foundation for a walk-a-thon that Gunter said she planned to enter. Rochester Police Lieutenant Dave Waller says Gunter collected about $70,200 in cash by convincing people on the Internet that she was collecting for the Anti-Gun Foundation.

Waller says the 44-year-old Gunter really used the money for purchasing two vehicles. He says he found about $28,300 in cash and $2,500 in checks in her residence. Gunter had donors write out the checks to the Anti-Gun Foundation, which were easily the first three letters of her last name.

“Her last name was Gunter, so she would only have had to put in the last three letters to modify the name on the checks,” said Detective Bob Welch with the Rochester Police Department.
Gunter was charged this week with possession of felony theft and felony deception. Gunter is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Getting indexed on Google

As a webmaster, one of the biggest challenge is getting my websites listed on Googe and staying there.

It is simply getting harder and harder just to get Google to “index” your website, meaning that Google knows your website exist. And not only that, but sometimes Google simply “de-index” your website for no reason at all.

Now the latest strategy to get your website recognized on Google, Yahoo and MSN is quality backlinks.

What does that means?

If you have a website that’s listed on Deafbiz.com Links directory, the link from deafbiz.com to your website is a backlink. And if your website is related to deafness or hearing loss, then the backlink will score “higher” from deafbiz.com than from something that’s totally unrelated to deafness, like cars.com.

There’s only so much I can do to find new websites to be listed on deafbiz.com. The quickest way to be listed on deafbiz.com and get indexed on Google is to fill out a link submission form .

Another way to get indexed is to be linked from other blogs, social network (myspace.com) and community rating “listings” service like Swicki.

I just signed up a new one today: Listible

I don’t know what’s the proper term to call Swicki and Listible so for now I call them Community Rating Listings. It’s almost like “Digg” where people can vote up or down. In the case of Swicki and Listible, people can vote up or down whether the website is related to the theme.

This is also another way to find the best websites without digging through million of garbage and pretend deaf websites.

There’s many more “community rating listings” websites so I would appreciate if you can tell me which one are the most popular.

Deaf People doing SecondLife?

I’m reading more about the “next greatest thing on the Internet” called SecondLife.

It’s a virtual community where you can create your own world, and possibly make money from it.

Is there a “deaf community” there yet?
