Deaf websites using Joomla

This is a casting call for websites related to deafness and hearing loss using the Open Source program called Joomla! . I have an opportunity to be interviewed and to showcase my other website DeafJoomla.com, which has a list of deaf websites using Joomla. Currently, the list is pretty sparse and I know there’s a lot more out there so please help make my work easier by sending me URLs of your Joomla website and in return the website will get a valuable backlink as well as free PR.

You can also use the contact form on this website to send the links.

Recently Added to Deafbiz.com

I’m going to try to make this a regular feature by publishing a list of websites that were added to the Deafbiz.com Links Directory for the last 30 days.

In the Links Directory at Deafbiz.com, I personally review every single website to make sure it is truly a real website and not a junk “splog” website that was design totally to game Google’s Adsense. If you have a website and want to show up on Google, best way to do that is to get a link from a higher PR website. Deafbiz.com alternates between PR4 and PR5, which is pretty good.

But to make my job easier to promote your website, all you need to do is fill out the “Submit Website” form with the category you want the website to be in, and I will review within 24-48 hours.

This is a list of websites added in the last 30 days:

Tactile The World
Kevin Frost::Usher Syndrome Deaf-Blind Speed Skater
RIT | NTID | Deaf People
AegPhotos
D-PAN: Deaf Performing Artists Network
DPHH-CF .:::. Deaf Professional Happy Hour of Central Florida
Nellie’s Sweets
DeafTax.com - Income tax preparation and planning services for the Deaf community
Egbert Press: MINDFIELD
Hawk Relay
Dynamingle.org
Fernando Aramburu

Girl Dies of Bacterial Meningitis, maybe related to Cochlear Implant?

Here’s another story that will add fuel to the fire about Cochlear Implant debate:

Girl Dies of Bacterial Meningitis

Doctors said bacterial meningitis is not contagious. They believe it may have been caused by Katie’s cochlear implant. They said it could have been prevented with a vaccination.”I had tried and they were always out,” Engle said. “After going back several times, I forgot about it.”

I gotta really ask the hard hitting questions:

Who said that bacterial meningitis is related to CI?
When did she have her CI surgery?
Why was it so difficult to get the vaccination?
Why did the doctor(s) go ahead with CI surgery when she didn’t have vaccination?
Did the doctors know or didn’t know she had her vaccination?

I hope this is a lesson learn “the hard way” for all prospective CI patients and their doctors. But I would say in this case protocols were not followed!

I know the protocols because I had all my shots before the CI surgery!

UbiDuo in the news!

Kudos to Scommonline for working very hard to get the word out about UbiDuo and for Kokonut Pundits to bring this to my attention. The local FoxNews TV station did a show and it’s a great video of how UbiDuo works:

Device Gives More Independence To Hard of Hearing

Though it’s not subtitled on the web, Kokonut Pundit did the transcription.

FYI, WinfreePCS Inc. has purchased two UbiDuos for demo around Rochester, NY. If you want to see it in action, please fill out the contact form on their website or on this weblog as well.
