Where Sign Language Is Far From Foreign
Since I live in Rochester NY, I do have a unique perspective.
Recently DeafNation held it’s show in Rochester, NY. How many attended? I don’t think it even hit 3,000.
How does this square with 90,000 deaf or HOH that the NY Times claims?
And there’s a lot more to Rochester than just the deaf culture. How about jobs? Deaf-owned businesses? Mr. Zack is hearing, so why is he part of the story? We have a deaf insurance agent and a deaf owner of a sign language agency. Why not interview them?
Of course, the “NY Slimes” leaves out the full story, as usual.

I’m posting from another website a plea for help to get a refund from a deaf professional organization in Austin, TX which canceled a New Year’s eve party without notification and now a few individuals are having a hard time getting a refund.
Need Contact from DPHH Austin ASAP - Please help!
The DPHH-Austin website is either down, offline, or out of business.
(To be on the safe side, avoid this organization until they come out clean).
The person that was responsible for the party is Joseph Brzezowski. When I first heard about this, I said to myself “this name rings a bell”. Googling him shows that he used to operate deafcities.com which is now DOA. And years before that he ran Deaf Millennium Network (which I suspected he copied information from my deafbiz.com website). I think he used to live in Rochester, NY but if I’m wrong, I’ll publish a retraction.
I suspect that Joseph reads this blog so I’m gonna ask him out now to make good on the refunds and come out clean.

Back then, I wrote about podcasting and the deaf .
Thanks to Digg, a real estate agent with hearing loss wrote about how podcasting is gaining a wider acceptance in selling real estate, while forgetting about their potential deaf customers.

From time to time I use Quicken to evaluate my financial picture. If you don’t know where you stand on debt, assets, and credit report scores, you’re simply paying too much money, period.
And that means research, research, research. Get the best deals on credit card. Exercise your rights to a free annual credit report (or free credit report in case you get turned down for credit). Learn how you can save money or make your money work harder for you. Basic stuff like that for life skills (which should’ve been taught in k-12 in the first place).
I have to warn you, there’s lots of spamming and scammy websites that will give you the wrong information so it is CRUCIAL that you get your information from credible websites and blogs.
For Credit cards, I go to cardratings.com There’s a big forum and credit card reviews and if you’re pressed for time, it has an RSS feed as well as an email newsletter. You’ll find lots of great tips on credit card as well as advice for real world credit problems.
From time to time, I get unsolicited credit card offers in the mail. I go to cardratings.com to check out what others have to say about a particular offer or the bank. That way I know if I’m getting a great deal or a sucker deal.
Don’t get ripped off. There’s ton of free, accurate, unbiased information’s out there. Take advantage of it.
