I am not too impressed with having to use that to communicate with
my hearing friends, cuz there seem to be no personal touch involved
like eye contacts, personality exchange.. I would use that in business
or professional appointments, etc. Definitely not for personal use.

I don’t get what makes this any different from IM chat. Which is to say, one of the selling points I keep seeing claimed for it is that it’s not just a screen and keyboard, there’s somehow more that makes it quicker and easier to communicate (never mind that some people aren’t actually keyboard talented). You can’t see that from the video, it could just as easily be a pair of laptops and IM chat.

For the price, if that’s all it is, there’s easier and cheaper ways for me to get around. Maybe if my work was willing to purchase these for work purposes, that could be useful, and cheaper for them than terps, but as Christina said, for f2f with friends?

Interesting device, but my hearing friends and I would not put it on the center of the dining table in front of us in a restaurant. We will always stick to the Pen-Pad methdod is placed on the side of our plates and drinking glasses. Writing on pad allowing occasional eye contact is much more human.
